At 9:00 a.m. today, the press announced to the world that the three policemen involved in the Sean Bell case were not guilty....
Every news channel, every website, newspaper, and media outlet had the words NOT GUILTY splashed across their screens. My heart stopped as I sat at my desk comprehending what I had just read. Surely, there had to be some mistake, the U.S. Justice system was not this cruel to let these men walk free after shooting an innocent man 50 times...50 times.
Nicole...Nicole..my head can't stop spinning thinking about how hurt this woman is....her best friend..her man...her future husband..the father of her kids...dead...and for absolutely nothing.
No comfort...no one to lay next to..no one's hand to hold...no father for her kids...no growing old together with the love of her life.
Those cops took all of that from her...for nothing.
The worse part is that not only can she not bring him back...but for the rest of her life she can't have any type of peace knowing that these men that killed her future husband are paying no consequence.
I can't help but my close my eyes and imagine what Nicole was doing the night before her wedding day when this all went down. I'm sure she was going over every little last detail of the wedding...getting her babies in order..calling the florist..giggling with her best friend...and smiling...doing lots of smiling.
And then the phone rang.......
Not Guilty....but Mike Vick is guilty for killing some dogs..Not Guilty-but Wesley Snipes is going to prison for 3 years over money......Not Guilty-Not Guilty...when these cops murdered an innoncent man for no reason.
Not Guilty is what the Judge said......NOT GUILTY
